Overview

Introduction to Enterprise Architecture and Systems Integration research

Objective

Align IT with business goals with a cost efficient, optimized, agile, interoperable application and technology portfolio, reducing complexity and risk while accelerating the implementation of interoperable applications with well-defined and easily accessible high-quality data..

Key Research Areas

Organizational Alignment: The organization focuses its resources on executing the strategic vision.

Data Management: All participants in the enterprise have access to the information and toolsets necessary.

Portfolio Optimization: The systems necessary to run the business are optimized for performance and cost.

Enterprise Architecture: The EA practice is an integral part of the business from strategy development to technology evolution.## Research Value

Models, guidebooks and industry collaborations that provide methods:

  • For strategy activation; assessing maturity and identifying capability enhancements.
  • To improve the management, exchange and analysis of data.
  • To accelerate the problem analysis and solution definition of critical domains.
  • To accelerate the implementation of technology through well-defined and interoperable application interfaces

Task Force

The bi-annual task force gathers utility subject-matter experts in areas of enterprise architecture, data management, systems and cloud integration and related fields for deep-dive into the technical aspects of utility challenges and solutions. It is a good opportunity to network with your peers at other utilities, understand how to apply the latest findings, and advise the EPRI research. Members are encouraged to participate in several ways:

  • Identifying and sharing the latest priorities
  • Present and participate in panel discussions on solution pros and cons
  • Identify and discuss leading edge solutions from the utility and other industries
  • Contribute to EPRI research through review and collaboration
